Float Test

NOTE: On 3.2CL and 3.2TL models, it is necessary to remove left rear inner fender to access fuel tank vapor recirculation tube.

Ensure fuel tank is less than half full. Remove fuel filler cap to relieve fuel tank pressure, then reinstall cap. Disconnect fuel tank vapor recirculation tube. See Fig 1 . Connect a vacuum pump to vapor recirculation hose coming from fuel tank. Plug tube. Apply vacuum to fuel tank vapor recirculation hose. If vacuum holds, replace fuel tank vapor control valve. See EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article. If vacuum does not hold, float is okay. Perform valve test. See VALVE TEST  .
