SERVICE INFORMATION
When troubleshooting DTC P1456 [EVAP control system leakage (fuel tank system)] and/or P1457 [EVAP control system leakage (EVAP canister system)] on a '99-03 3.2TL, '01-03 3.2CL, '98-99 2.3CL, or '02-03 RSX, make sure you use HDS version 1.007.011 or later software. This or a later version will perform an EVAP system function test (on selected models) to determine if the system has a leak.
To get to the EVAP control system test, go to the PGM-FI Menu, then to the Inspection menu, and tap on EVAP TEST. Choose the specific test you want to perform. Refer to Service Bulletin 02-005 , EVAP System Function Testing and Diagnostics With the PGM Tester, for additional information. If you are working on a 2002 RSX, refer to Service Bulletin 02-032 , MIL Comes On With DTC P1457.
- Before repairing the vehicle, do the function test to determine if the EVAP system has a leak.
- After completing the repairs, do the function test to verify that the repair was effective before returning the vehicle to the customer.
