Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. When servicing vehicle, use care to avoid accidental air bag deployment. SIR system-related components are located in various locations throughout interior and exterior of vehicle, depending on application. Do not use electrical test equipment on or near these circuits. If necessary, deactivate SIR system before servicing components. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.
CAUTION: Before disconnecting battery, obtain anti-theft code for radio. After battery is reconnected, the word CODE will appear on radio display. Enter 5-digit anti-theft code using select buttons and radio will begin working. If code is entered wrong too many times, leave radio on at least one hour and enter code correctly. Any time radio power is lost, pre-selected radio stations will have to be set.

A reversible, permanent magnet motor operates each power window. See Fig 1 -Fig 3 . Driver's master switch controls all windows. Passenger switches control only the associated power window. If main switch is in OFF position, only the driver's power window operates.

AUTO mode permits driver's power window to be fully lowered without holding switch. Pressing switch down to its second detent position will engage AUTO mode, fully lowering power window. AUTO function is controlled by an integral pulser within the driver's power window motor assembly. The pulser cannot be serviced separately.

Each motor is protected by a built-in circuit breaker. If power window switch is held in UP or DOWN position after power window reaches travel limit, circuit breaker will open circuit. After circuit breaker opens circuit, it will close when it cools.

Power windows may be operated for approximately 10 minutes after ignition switch is turned off, as long as neither front door is opened. If time delay function is interrupted, ignition must be turned on again to operate power windows.
