Fuel Pressure Testing: MDX

  1. Relieve fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  . Loosen fuel tank fill cap and remove intake manifold cover. Place a wrench on fuel line bolt at the fuel joint. Place a shop towel around the fuel line joint. Slowly open the fuel line bolt one complete turn.
  2. Remove fuel line bolt and install fuel pressure gauge adapter (07VAJ-0040100). Attach fuel pressure gauge. See Fig 1 .
  3. Reconnect negative battery cable and start vehicle. Observe fuel pressure on gauge. See REGULATED FUEL PRESSURE  . If vehicle will not start, check fuel pump operation. Remove fuel filler cap and listen for fuel pump operation at fill port while an assistant turns ignition switch on. You should hear fuel pump running for about 2 seconds when ignition is turned on. If fuel pump runs, go to next step. If fuel pump does not run, check fuel pump. See FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT TESTING  .
