DTC U0107: Lost Communication With Throttle Actuator Control Module
CAUTION:
When substituting or replacement of PCM is recommended, see PCM REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT
for important precautions.
- Turn ignition on. With the Honda PGM tester or the HDS, do DTC CLEAR in the CLEAR menu.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTC menu. If DTC U0107 is set, go to next step. If DTC U0107 is not set, go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition off within 2 seconds after using he Honda PGM tester or the HDS and doing DTC CLEAR in the CLEAR menu. If the DTC U0107 is stored, do the DTC CLEAR again.
- Disconnect intake air duct from throttle body. Press and hold accelerator pedal fully down. Turn ignition on. Check throttle valve operation. If the throttle valve fully closes, then fully opens, go to step 7 . If the throttle valve does not fully close after ignition is on. Go to step 9 . If throttle valve closes fully, but then does not fully open, go to step 15 .
- Start engine. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTC menu. If DTC U0107 is set, go to next step. If DTC U0107 did not set, problem is intermittent, system is OK. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at , throttle actuator control module relay, the ETC fuse (15- amp) at under-hood sub-fuse box and PCM harness connector.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector "A". See Figure . Check continuity between ground and PCM harness connector terminals A39 and A40. If there is continuity, go to step 22 . If there is not continuity, repair open in wire between ground connector G101 and PCM harness connector terminals A39 and A40. Go to step 20 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector "A". Disconnect throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector. Check continuity between ground and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 4 (Blue wire). If there is continuity, repair short in wire between PCM and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 4. If there is not continuity. Go to next step.
- Check continuity between PCM harness connector terminal A1 (Blue wire) and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 4. If there is continuity, go to step 19 . If there is not continuity, repair open in wire between PCM harness connector terminal A1 (Blue wire) and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 4. Go to step 20
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector. Check continuity between ground and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and No. 10 (Black wire) individually. If there is continuity, go to step 13 . If there is not continuity, repair open in wire between ground connector G101. Go to step 20 .
- Using he Honda PGM tester or the HDS, check the TAC RELAY in the DATA list. If it is on, go to step 22 . If it is not on, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. With the throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector still disconnected, turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 6 (Green/White wire). If there is about 3 volts or more, go to next step. If there is not about 3 volts or more , go to step 17 .
- Measure voltage between ground and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Green wire). If there is battery voltage, go to step 19 . If there is not battery voltage, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and throttle actuator control relay connector terminal No. 1. If there is battery voltage, go to next step. If there is not battery voltage, check the ETC fuse (15- amp) at under-hood sub-fuse box. If fuse is OK, then check for an open in wire between under-hood sub-fuse box and throttle actuator control relay. Go to step 21 .
- Turn ignition off. Remove throttle actuator control relay. Disconnect throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector. Connect throttle actuator control relay connector terminal No. 2 to ground with a fused jumper wire. Check for continuity between ground and throttle actuator control relay connector terminal No. 1. If there is continuity, replace throttle actuator control relay. Go to step 19 . If there is not continuity, repair wire between throttle actuator control module and throttle actuator control relay. Go to step 19 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector "A". Check for continuity between ground and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 13. If there is continuity, repair wire between PCM and throttle actuator control module Go to step 19 . If there is not continuity, go to next step.
- Check continuity between PCM harness connector terminal A2 (Green wire) and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 13. If there is continuity, go to step 19 . If there is not continuity, repair open in wire between PCM harness connector terminal A2 (Green wire) and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 13. Go to step 20 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector "A". Disconnect throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector. Check for continuity between ground and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 6. If there is continuity, repair wire between PCM harness connector terminal A29 and throttle actuator control module Go to step 20 .
- Check continuity between PCM harness connector terminal A29 (Green/White wire) and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 6. If there is continuity, go to step 22 . If there is not continuity, repair open in wire between PCM harness connector terminal A29 (Green/White wire) and throttle actuator control module 16-pin connector terminal No. 6. Go to step 20 .
- Replace throttle body assembly.
- Turn ignition on.
- Turn ignition on. With the Honda PGM tester or the HDS, do DTC CLEAR in the CLEAR menu. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTC menu. If any Temporary DTCs or DTCs are set, go to next step. If no Temporary DTCs or DTCs are set, troubleshooting is done.
- Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTC menu. If DTC U0107, check for poor connections or loose terminals at throttle actuator control module and PCM harness connector. Go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are set, troubleshoot those indicated. If there are no Temporary DTCs or DTCs set, PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If PCM was substituted, replace original PCM.
