Engine Oil Replacement

  1. Warm up the engine.
  2. Remove the drain bolt (A), and drain the engine oil.

  3. Reinstall the drain bolt with a new washer (B).
  4. Refill the engine with the recommended oil (see LUBRICANTS ABD FLUIDS ).
    NOTE: Always use Mobil 1® P/N 5W-30-MB1-000 or an equivalent oil that meets the ACURA HT0-06 standard. Not all synthetic oil will meet this standard.

    Capacity 

    At Oil Change: 4.5 L (4.8 US qt) 

    At Oil Change including Filter: 4.7 L (5.0 US qt) 

    After Engine Overhaul: 5.8 L (6.1 US qt)

  5. If the maintenance minder required to replace the engine oil, reset the maintenance minder (see GENERAL INFORMATION (INFORMATION DISPLAY) ) and this procedure is complete. If the maintenance minder did not require replacement of the engine oil, go to step 6.
  6. Connect the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) to the data link connector (DLC) (see step 2 under HOW TO USE THE HDS (HONDA DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM) ).
  7. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  8. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the powertrain control module (PCM). If it doesn't, troubleshoot the DLC circuit (see DLC CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING ).
  9. Select the BODY ELECTRICAL with the HDS.
  10. Select the ADJUSTMENT in GAUGE MENU with the HDS.
  11. Select the RESET in the MAINTENANCE MINDER with the HDS.
  12. Select the RESETTING THE ENGINE OIL LIFE with the HDS.
  13. Run the engine for more than 3 minutes, then check for oil leaks.
