Transmission Disassembly
Special Tools Required
Mainshaft holder 07GAB-PF50101
- Remove the ATF dipstick (A) and the dipstick tube (B).
- Remove A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves A and B (C) (six bolts), ATF feed pipes (D) (three), O-rings (three), and gasket.
- Remove the solenoid valve cover (E) (seven bolts), dowel pins (two), and gasket.
- Disconnect the solenoid valve connectors, then remove the solenoid harness connector (F).
- Remove A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve C (G) (four bolts), ATF feed pipes (H) (three), O-rings (two), and gasket.
- Pry the lock tab of the lock washer (I) on the control lever (J), and remove the nut, lock washer, spring washer, and control lever.
- Pry the lock tabs of the lock washer (K) on the transmission range switch (L), hold the control shaft (M) with a 6.0 mm wrench, and loosen the locknut(N).
- Remove the locknut and lock washer, then remove the transmission range switch (two bolts).
- Remove the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor (O) and output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor (P).
- Remove the ATF temperature sensor connector from the clamp bracket on the ATF cooler line, then remove the ATF temperature sensor (Q).
- Remove the 6.0 mm bolts (R), line bolts (S), ATF cooler lines (T), and sealing washers (U).
- Remove the end cover (V) (three bolts), snap ring cap (W) (two bolts), sealing plug (X), and washer (Y).
- Remove the 3rd clutch transmission fluid pressure switch (Z) and sealing washer.
- Remove the 4th clutch transmission fluid pressure switch (AA) and sealing washer.
- Remove the 2nd clutch transmission fluid pressure switch (BB) and sealing washer.
- Slip the mainshaft holder onto the mainshaft.
- Cut the lock tab (A) off the mainshaft locknut (B) using a chisel (C).NOTE: Keep all of the chiseled particles out of the transmission.
- Remove the locknut (A) from the mainshaft (B).
- Pry the lock washer (C) and remove it.
- Remove the transmission housing mounting bolts (A) (23 bolts), 12 x 1.25 mm bolt (B), transmission hanger (C), and ground terminal bracket (D).
- While expanding the snap ring of the countershaft bearing with snap ring pliers, lift the transmission housing.
- Release the pliers, and remove the transmission housing (E), two dowel pins (F), and gasket.
- Remove the 8 x 151.5 mm ATF feed pipes (G) (two), 8 x 85 mm pipe (H), and 8 x 40 mm pipe (I) from the accumulator body.
- Remove the 8 x 57.5 mm ATF feed pipe (J) and 10 x 123 mm pipe (K) from the torque converter housing.
- Remove the mainshaft holder from the mainshaft.
- Pry the lock tab of the lock washer (L) on the shift fork (M), then remove the bolt and lock washer.
- Unhook the detent spring from the detent arm.
- Remove the park pawl stop (N), park pawl (0), pawl spring (P), and pawl shaft (Q).
- Remove the mainshaft (R), countershaft (S), shift fork (M), and secondary shaft (T) together, and remove the needle bearing (U) from the torque converter housing.
- Remove the selector control shaft and park lever link (V).
- Remove the baffle plate (W).
- Remove the differential assembly (X).
- Remove the transfer output shaft (Y).
- Remove the baffle plate (Z).
- Remove the intermediary shaft (AA).
- Remove the ATF strainer (A) (one bolt).
- Remove the accumulator body (B) (11 bolts), dowel pins (two), detent arm (C), arm shaft (D), and separator plate (E).
- Remove the 8 x 62 mm ATF feed pipe (F) from the main valve body.
- Remove the secondary valve body (G) (one bolt), dowel pins (two), and separator plate (H). Do not let the check balls (I) (two) fall out.
- Remove the regulator valve body (J) (seven bolts), stator shaft (K), stator shaft stop (L), dowel pins (two), and separator plate (M).
- Remove the main valve body (N) (8 mm: three bolts, 6 mm: seven bolts). Do not let the lubrication check valve (O) fall out.
- Remove the torque converter check valve (P) and valve spring (Q).
- Remove the ATF pump driven gear shaft (R), then remove the ATF pump gears (S).
- Remove the dowel pins (two) and main separator plate (T).
- Remove the ATF passage pipe (U) (one bolt).
- Remove the ATF magnet (V), clean it, then reinstall it in the torque converter housing.
- Remove the O-ring (W) from the ATF strainer, and replace it with a new O-ring when reassembling the transmission.
- Remove the O-ring (X) from the stator shaft, and replace it with a new O-ring when reassembling the transmission.
- Clean the inlet opening (A) of the ATF strainer (B) thoroughly with compressed air, then check that it is good condition and that the inlet opening is not clogged.
- Test the ATF strainer by pouring clean ATF through the inlet opening, and replace if it is clogged or damaged.
