ATF Filter Replacement
NOTE:
The ATF filter is not a scheduled maintenance item. Replace the filter only if it is leaking/or contaminated, or when the transmission is being overhauled or replaced with a remanufactured unit.
- Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported.
- Remove the front undercover (see FRONT UNDERCOVER REPLACEMENT ) and the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the drain plug (A), and drain the transmission fluid (ATF).
- Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer (B).
- Remove the harness cover (A) from the ATF filter holder (B).
- Disconnect the ATF cooler hoses (A) from the ATF filter (B).
- Remove the ATF filter holder (C), and remove the ATF filter.
- install a new ATF filter, and secure it with its ATF filter holder and bolt.
- Connect the ATF cooler hose (see ATF COOLER HOSE REPLACEMENT ).
- Install the harness cover to the ATF filter holder.
- Install the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ) and the front undercover (see FRONT UNDERCOVER REPLACEMENT ).
- Refill the transmission with ATF (see step 8 under ATF Replacement ).
