ATF Filter Replacement
NOTE:
The ATF filter is not a scheduled maintenance item. Replace the filter only if it is leaking, or contaminated, or when the transmission is being overhauled or replaced with a remanufactured unit.
- Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported.
- Remove the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the drain plug (A) and the sealing washer (B), and drain the ATF.
- Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer.
- Remove the harness clamp (A) from the ATF filter holder (B).
- Disconnect the ATF cooler hoses (C) from the ATF filter (D).
- Remove the ATF filter holder, and remove the ATF filter.
- Install a new ATF filter, and secure it with its holder and bolt.
- Connect the ATF cooler hoses (see ATF COOLER HOSE REPLACEMENT ).
- Install the harness clamp to the ATF filter holder.
- Install the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
- Refill the transmission with ATF (see step 7 ).
