DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0876

DTC P0876  : Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor D Out of Range

General Description

Transmission fluid pressure sensor D is installed on the passage of the hydraulic pressure supplied to brake B3. The transmission control module (TCM) measures the hydraulic pressure of brake B3 from the output voltage of transmission fluid pressure sensor D. Transmission fluid pressure sensor D is a strain gauge that changes output voltage depending on the hydraulic pressure change supplied to brake B3. When the brake B3 hydraulic pressure is low, the TCM detects a low signal voltage. Conversely, when the brake B3 hydraulic pressure is high, the TCM detects a high signal voltage. It normally outputs at range of more than 0.286 V to less than 4.94 V depending on the hydraulic pressure. If the transmission fluid pressure sensor D output voltage is a specified range for a specified duration, the TCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 3.0 seconds or more
DTC Type Two drive cycles, MIL on, shift position indicator blinks

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
12 volt battery voltage [Battery Voltage] 10 V -
Other No abnormality in sensor supply (VCC1)

[ ]: HDS Parameter

Malfunction Threshold

One of these conditions is met for at least 3.0 seconds:

Possible Cause

NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Confirmation Procedure

Operating Condition

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the TCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on, the shift position indicator blinks, and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
