DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P1715
DTC P1715 : Two-Way Clutch Actuator Valve Stroke Sensor A/B Short
General Description
The transmission control module (TCM) judges the two-way clutch position by the output voltage from the two-way clutch actuator valve stroke sensor. If both the two-way clutch actuator valve stroke sensor A output voltage and the two-way clutch actuator valve stroke sensor B output voltage are in a specified range for a specified duration, the TCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 0.5 second or more |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL on, shift position indicator blinks |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | Minimum | Maximum | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine speed [Engine Speed] | 500 rpm | - | |
| 12 volt battery voltage [Battery Voltage] | 10 V | - | |
| Other | Clutch pressure control solenoid valve A actual current value is 400 mA or more, or shift solenoid valve D is ON condition | ||
| Not while switching to two-way clutch | |||
| Engine speed, 12 volt battery voltage, and other conditions in Enable Conditions should be satisfied continuous for at least 1.5 seconds | |||
[ ]: HDS Parameter
Malfunction Threshold
Both of conditions are met for at least 0.5 second:
- The two-way clutch actuator valve stroke sensor A output voltage is 2.4 V or more, or 2.6 V or less.
- The two-way clutch actuator valve stroke sensor B output voltage is 2.4 V or more, or 2.6 V or less.
Possible Cause
- Solenoid wire harness failure
- Valve body assembly failure (two-way clutch actuator valve stroke sensor)
- TCM internal circuit failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- Start the engine.
- Test-drive the vehicle in D position/mode at speeds over 6 mph (10 km/h), then slow down and stop the vehicle.
- While pressing the brake pedal, shift the transmission to R position/mode.
- Drive the vehicle in this manner only if the traffic regulations and ambient conditions allow.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on, the shift position indicator blinks, and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the TCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
