Resetting the Power Tailgate Control Unit: Procedure

NOTICE:

When working with a vehicle equipped with the electronic air suspension, be sure to set it to the leveling off mode to prevent unexpected operation. Refer to the Electronic Air Suspension System Service Precautions - Refer to: Electronic Air Suspension System Connector Fitting Precautions or Electronic Air Suspension System Service Precautions for the procedure.

NOTE:

If the 12 volt battery terminal is disconnected or the No. A20 fuse is removed while the power tailgate is operating, the power tailgate will not be able to open or close automatically until it is reset.

Power Tailgate Control Unit - Reset
Preconditions
- The vehicle is in the OFF (LOCK) mode.
Procedure

1. Turn off the power by the power tailgate control unit in one of the following ways.
- Disconnect the 12 volt battery negative terminal. - Refer to: 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection (3.5L Engine) or 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection (3.0L Engine) .
- Remove the No. A20 fuse .
2. Manually close the tailgate.

3. Reconnect the negative battery terminal or reinsert the removed fuse.

4. Make sure that the power tailgate operates correctly.
