NOTICE:
When working with a vehicle equipped with the electronic air suspension, be sure to set it to the leveling off mode to prevent unexpected operation. Refer to the Electronic Air Suspension System Service Precautions - Refer to: Electronic Air Suspension System Connector Fitting Precautions or Electronic Air Suspension System Service Precautions for the procedure.
- Tailgate - Adjust
Preconditions
Procedure/Specifications
1. Slightly loosen the tailgate hinge mounting bolts (a). (Figure 1)

2. Slightly loosen the striker mounting bolts (b). (Figure 1)
3. Adjust the tailgate (c) alignment in the following sequence:
- Adjust the tailgate right and left by using the elongated holes in the tailgate hinges (d). (Figure 1)
- Turn the tailgate edge cushions (e), in or out as necessary, to make the tailgate fit flush with the body at the rear and side edges. (Figure 1)
- Adjust the fit between the tailgate and the tailgate opening by moving the striker (f), and adjust the striker right or left until it is centered in the tailgate latch (g). (Figure 1)
4. Tighten each bolt to the specified torque
5. Make sure the tailgate opens properly and locks securely.
6. Apply touch-up paint to the hinge mounting bolts and around the hinges, and let the paint dry.
7. Apply the multipurpose grease to the tailgate hinges. (Figure 2)
