Ignition Coolant Temperature Sensor

  1. Disconnect plug from ECU. Plug is located behind right seat under panel. Connect ohmmeter to No. 12 and 13 terminals of plug. Check coolant temperature and note resistance reading. Resistance reading will vary with coolant temperature.
  2. Replace ignition coolant temperature sensor if resistance is not within specifications. See COOLANT SENSOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS  table. If no resistance is noted, check for open in wiring to coolant temperature sensor. Ignition coolant temperature sensor is located on the intake manifold. See Fig 1 .

50°F (10°C) 3.8 Ohms
68°F (20°C) 2.5 Ohms
86°F (30°C) 1.7 Ohms
104°F (40°C) 1.1 Ohms
176°F (80°C) .33 Ohms
