Side - B-Pillar

NOTE:

Before removing and installing the impact sensor the following preliminary operations must be carried out.

  • Position the vehicle with the front wheels straight.
  • Turn the ignition key to the Off position and extract it.
  • FOLLOW ALL THE PRESCRIBED SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. Refer to WARNING .
  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery.
  2. Remove the sound proofing cover from the engine. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the rear wheel, right or left, on the same side of the vehicle as the side impact sensor being serviced.
  4. Remove the rear wheel house splash shield, right or left, on the same side of the vehicle as the side impact sensor being serviced. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONSHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the quarter panel, right or left, on the same side of the vehicle as the side impact sensor being serviced. Refer to PANEL, QUARTER, LEFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONPANEL, QUARTER, RIGHT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the sensor connector receptacle (1).
  7. Remove the nut (2a) that secures the sensor (2b) to the stud on the back of the B-pillar.
  8. Remove the sensor from the vehicle.

  1. Position the side impact sensor (2b) onto the stud on the back of the B-pillar.
  2. Install and tighten the nut (2a) that secures the sensor to the back of the B-pillar. Tighten the nut securely.
  3. Reconnect the wire harness connector to the sensor connector receptacle (1).
  4. Reinstall the quarter panel, right or left, on the same side of the vehicle as the side impact sensor being serviced. Refer to PANEL, QUARTER, LEFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONPANEL, QUARTER, RIGHT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Reinstall the rear wheel house splash shield, right or left, on the same side of the vehicle as the side impact sensor being serviced. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONSHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Reinstall the rear wheel, right or left, on the same side of the vehicle as the side impact sensor being serviced.
  7. Reinstall the sound proofing cover over the engine. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
