1.4L TBI System: Description
The computerized engine control system used on Federal Alliance and Encore models with throttle body fuel injection is built around a microprocessor based computer. The major task of this system is to reduce emissions by controlling air/fuel ratio, ignition, idle speed and emission control devices. In order to carry out this task it is necessary to monitor several engine conditions.
These engine conditions are monitored by a system of sensors that input information to the computer. The computer processes this information to get an accurate picture of engine operation. The computer is then able to control the engine for optimum performance and minimum emissions.
