BACKPRESSURE EGR Valve

  1. Check vacuum hose routing. Clamp a plug (freeze plug may be used) into end of tailpipe, about 1/16" less than I.D. Connect vacuum pump to EGR valve.
  2. Idle engine and gradually apply vacuum. Valve stem/diaphragm should move smoothly and engine speed should drop at least 100 RPM.
  3. Reconnect vacuum hose. Warm engine to operating temperature. Increase engine speed to 1500-2500 RPM. Ensure EGR valve opens. Remove plug from exhaust pipe.
