5000 Auto. Trans.

  1. Drive vehicle to warm up engine. Minimum oil temperature is 140° F (60° C). Turn off all electrical accessories including air conditioning. Apply hand and foot brake, engage transmission in "Drive". Ensure engine fan is not running.
  2. Perform stall test at end of warm up drive, do not turn engine off. Push accelerator to floor (kick down position), stall speed must be at least 2400 RPM within 4 to 7 seconds.
    CAUTION: Do not check stall speed longer than 10 seconds.
  3. If stall speed is not within specifications, full load screw on injector pump must be adjusted. While holding screw with wrench, not screwdriver, loosen lock nut and turn screw clockwise 1/8 turn maximum. Tighten lock nut and recheck stall speed.
  4. If stall speed is reached in less than 4 seconds, back off adjusting screw (counterclockwise) very slightly. Reseal screw with yellow paint.
