All Models
- Item Being Tested - Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Place ABS tester in program switch position No. 10. Press button No. 8. Resistance reading on ABS tester should be 800-1800 ohms. If correct, go to step 6)
- If reading is incorrect, turn ignition off. Disconnect plug connector for left front wheel speed sensor. Plug is located next to left shock tower. Use ohmmeter to measure speed sensor internal resistance.
- Speed sensor internal resistance should be 800-1800 ohms. If reading is incorrect, replace speed sensor. If resistance reading is correct, go to next step.
- Install a jumper wire across speed sensor plug connector terminals. Use ohmmeter to check continuity between terminals No. 4 and 5 (terminals No. 4 and 22 on 5000CS Quattro) in plug for ABS control unit. See Fig 1
.
- If there is no continuity, repair wiring harness to restore continuity. After repairs check speed sensor plug connector for continuity. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Item Being Tested - Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor With ABS tester in program switch position No. 10, press button No. 9. Resistance reading on ABS tester should be 800-1800 ohms. If correct, go to step 11)
- If reading is incorrect, turn ignition off. Disconnect plug connector for right front wheel speed sensor. Plug is located next to right shock tower.
See Fig 1
. Use ohmmeter to check continuity between terminals No. 21 and 23 in plug for ABS control unit.
- If there is no continuity, repair wiring harness to restore continuity. After repairs check speed sensor plug connector for continuity. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Item Being Tested - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor With ABS tester in program switch position No. 10, press button No. 11. Resistance reading on ABS tester should be 800-1800 ohms. If correct, go to step 16)
- If reading is incorrect, turn ignition off. Disconnect plug connector for left rear wheel speed sensor. Plug is located under left rear seat.
See Fig 1
. Use ohmmeter to check continuity between terminals No. 7 and 9 (terminals No. 8 and 9 on 5000CS Quattro) in plug for ABS control unit.
- If there is no continuity, repair wiring harness to restore continuity. After repairs check speed sensor plug connector for continuity. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Item Being Tested - Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor With ABS tester in program switch position No. 10, press button No. 12. Resistance reading on ABS tester should be 800-1800 ohms. If correct, TEST 10 is completed.
- If reading is incorrect, turn ignition off. Disconnect plug connector for left rear wheel speed sensor. Plug is located under left rear seat.
24 and 26 in plug for ABS control unit. See Fig 1
.
