All Models

  1. Item Being Tested - Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Place ABS tester in program switch position No. 12. Press button No. 8. Voltage reading on ABS tester should be 0-100 millivolts. If correct, go to step 4).
  2. If reading is incorrect, turn ignition off. Disconnect plug connector for left front wheel speed sensor. Install a jumper wire across speed sensor plug connector terminals. See Figure . Repeat step 1).
  3. If voltage reading is now correct, replace speed sensor. If reading is still incorrect, check wires going to terminals No. 4 and 5 (terminals No. 4 and 22 on 5000CS Quattro) in plug for ABS control unit for chafing or short to ground. After repairs, go to next step.
  4. Item Being Tested - Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor With ABS tester in program switch position No. 12, press button No. 9. Voltage reading on ABS tester should be 0-100 millivolts. If correct, go to step 7).
  5. If reading is incorrect, turn ignition off. Disconnect plug connector for right front wheel speed sensor. Install a jumper wire across speed sensor plug connector terminals and repeat step 4).
  6. If voltage reading is now correct, replace speed sensor. If reading is still incorrect, check wires going to terminals No. 21 and 23 in plug for ABS control unit for chafing or short to ground. After repairs, go to next step.
  7. Item Being Tested - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor With ABS tester in program switch position No. 12, press button No. 11. Voltage reading on ABS tester should be 0-100 millivolts. If correct, go to step 10).
  8. If reading is incorrect, turn ignition off. Disconnect plug connector for left rear wheel speed sensor. Install a jumper wire across speed sensor plug connector terminals. See Figure . Repeat step 7).
  9. If voltage reading is now correct, replace speed sensor. If reading is still incorrect, check wires going to terminals No. 7 and 9 (terminals No. 8 and 9 on 5000CS Quattro) in plug for ABS control unit for chafing or short to ground. After repairs, go to next step.
  10. Item Being Tested - Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor With ABS tester in program switch position No. 12, press button No. 12. Voltage reading on ABS tester should be 0-100 millivolts. If correct, TEST 12 is completed.
  11. If reading is incorrect, turn ignition off. Disconnect plug connector for right rear wheel speed sensor. Install a jumper wire across speed sensor plug connector terminals and repeat step 10).
  12. If voltage reading is now correct, replace speed sensor. If reading is still incorrect, check wires going to terminals No. 24 and 26 in plug for ABS control unit for chafing or short to ground.
