Ignition Control: Notes

An ignition advance timing map is programmed into the ECU. The ECU will trigger the coil for base idle timing and timing advance. The actual timing advance depends on signals from the intake manifold pressure and input from ignition timing reference sensor, engine RPM speed sensor and coolant sensor.
