Canister Shutoff Solenoid
The shutoff solenoid valve is de-energized when the engine is turned off. This closes the purge line between the carbon canister and the intake air boot, preventing fuel vapors, that may cause a hot start problem, from collecting in the intake tract.
When the engine is started, the canister shutoff solenoid is energized, allowing stored vapors to be purged from the canister. The canister shutoff solenoid is located on top of the carbon canister.
