Audi 90

  1. Ensure engine is at normal operating temperature. Ensure A/C if off and that no knock sensor faults exist. Start engine and allow to idle. Insert fuse in top of fuel pump relay. See Figure. This stabilizes timing for checking and adjusting. If timing is not 13-15 degrees, loosen distributor clamp and adjust to 15 ±1 degree.
  2. Remove fuse from fuel pump relay and increase engine speed above 2500 RPM. This will cancel the fault display warning light. Allow engine to idle. Ignition timing may vary between 7 and 20 degrees. Reset idle speed if necessary. Ensure distributor clamp is tight.
