Ignition System: Description
NOTE:
Ignition system on Audi 90 and 5000S models equipped with 2.3L engine is controlled by the CIS-E III electronic control system. On Audi 5000CS Quattro and 5000CS Turbo models, ignition system is controlled through the Digital Control System computer which also uses a manifold vacuum input signal.
The typical Bosch Hall Effect electronic ignition system consists of an ignition coil, distributor with Hall Effect sending unit, Hall ignition control unit (except Audi 5000CS Quattro and 5000CS Turbo vehicles), vacuum and centrifugal advance mechanisms (some models).
