Coolant Temperature Sensor
- Ensure engine temperature is greater than 176°F (20°C). Remove harness connector from coolant temperature sensor. Connect multimeter between temperature sensor terminal No. 1 and engine ground.
- Connect between terminal No. 2 and engine ground. For multimeter reading, see Fig 1 , Coolant Temperature Sensor chart. Connect multimeter between harness connector terminal No. 1 and ground, then between terminal No. 2 and ground.
- Turn ignition on. Multimeter should read 4.5-5.5 volts. If no voltage is present, repair break in wiring. If no voltage is present and no break in wiring is found, replace respective control unit that controls that temperature sensor.
