Full Throttle Switch

  1. Connect multimeter between terminal No. 3 of throttle switch and ground. Turn ignition on. Multimeter should read battery voltage. Fasten pointer for Protractor (3084 ) to adjuster for accelerator cable (using a rubber band). See Fig 1 .
  2. Screw protractor onto throttle shaft and unscrew throttle shaft nut (if necessary). Push throttle lever to full open (at stop limit) and zero pointer plus disc.

  3. Close throttle to 30 degrees, then slowly move toward full throttle position until full throttle switch engages (zero ohms indicated). Protractor should show 6-14 degrees before contacting full throttle limit stop.
  4. If degrees are not as specified, replace and adjust full throttle switch. If degrees are as specified, check wiring between throttle switch harness connector and FICU by removing FICU harness connector.
  5. Turn ignition off. Using multimeter, check continuity between throttle switch connector terminal No. 1 and ICU connector terminal No. 7. See Figure . Then check continuity between throttle switch connector terminal No. 3 and ICU connector terminal No. 9. Multimeter should read .2 ohm.
  6. Connect multimeter and check continuity between throttle switch connector terminal No. 1 and FICU connector terminal No. 28. Then check continuity between throttle switch connector terminal No. 3 and FICU connector terminal No. 31. Multimeter should read .2 ohm. If .2 ohm is not present, repair break in wiring.
