Wastegate Solenoid

  1. With ignition on, use spare fuse to bridge fuel pump relay contacts. Solenoid will click if operating correctly. If solenoid does not click, remove connector.
  2. Using LED Tester (US 1115), connect Red test lead to Blue/Black wire and Black test lead to Green/Yellow wire. If tester comes on, replace wastegate solenoid. If tester does not come on, connect voltmeter between Blue/Black wire and ground.
  3. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Blue/Black wire. If battery voltage is present, remove kick panel from right side of footwell. Turn ignition off. Remove Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness connector.
  4. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance in wire between solenoid connector Green/Yellow wire terminal and ECU terminal No. 19. See Figure . Resistance should be 0.2 ohm. If resistance is not 0.2 ohm, check for open circuit in wiring or connectors. If circuits are okay, replace control unit.
