Drive Belt Inspection
- Using a crayon or other marker, mark direction of belt travel before removing belt (if reusing belt). If reinstalled in opposite direction, damage to belt will occur.
- Remove drive belt guard. Using a 10-mm wrench, rotate drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove drive belt. Hold tensioner in place with Holding Mandrel (V.A.G. 3204). See Fig 1
.
- After ensuring there are no splits, cracks or other damage, install drive belt in reverse order of removal. Place drive belt over drive rollers and idling roller first and onto tensioning roller last. Using a 10-mm wrench, remove holding mandrel and allow tensioning roller to move against belt. Install drive belt guard.
