EVAP Control Solenoid Valve
- Disconnect EVAP control solenoid valve connector. See the ELECTRICAL COMPONENT LOCATIONS table at beginning of article. Measure resistance across EVAP control solenoid valve terminals. If resistance is not 20-28 ohms, replace EVAP control solenoid valve.
- If resistance is 20-28 ohms, connect LED Tester (US 1115) between engine ground and EVAP control solenoid valve connector terminal No. 1 with jumper from Adaptor Kit (VW 1594). See Figure . Operate starter for several seconds. If LED does not come on, check circuit breaker, wiring and fuel pump relay.
- If LED comes on, connect LED tester between EVAP control solenoid valve connector terminals with jumper from adaptor kit. Initiate Output DTM. LED tester should flash when Output DTM is initiated for EVAP control solenoid valve.
- If LED flashes as specified, system is okay. If LED does not flash as specified, check wiring harness. If wiring harness is okay, replace ECM.
