Basic Setting Diagnostic Test Mode (Function 04): Notes

Basic setting function is carried out with the engine running. When in the basic setting function, the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) establishes the following conditions:

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on instrument panel will light up continuously.
EVAP canister purge regulator valve will stay closed.

Values can be displayed either by display group 00 showing 10 values or with display group 01 showing 4 values. When in display group 01 showing 4 values, the physical parameters of engine speed (RPM) and temperature will also be displayed. See Fig 1 .
