Checking Closed Throttle Position Switch

  1. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor connector. Set DVOM to resistance range.
  2. Using (VW 1594) Connector Test kit. Connect DVOM between terminals No. 4 and 6 of the TP sensor. Resistance must be zero ohms (continuity).
  3. Open throttle valves slightly. Resistance must be infinite ohms (open). If specified value is NOT obtained (or is obtained only after opening valve farther). Adjust CTP switch. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR .
  4. If specified value is still NOT obtained after adjusting CTP switch. Replace TP sensor.
