DTC P1418/17826 - Fuel Level Sensor Signal Too High

NOTE: DTC is set with ignition on when voltage signal is less than .12 volts for more than 15 seconds.
  1. Ensure PCM coding is correct. See PCM CODING  in this article. Ensure fuel tank contains more than 3.2 gallons of fuel. Ensure fuel gauge in instrument cluster is functioning properly. Correct problems as necessary. Erase DTC memory and test drive vehicle.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors. Connect VAG 1598/19 test box to PCM wiring harness. Terminal assignments of test box are identical to PCM connectors "A", "B", "C", "D" and "E".
  3. Using DVOM, check wiring harness between PCM and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  section. Repair wiring harness as necessary. If wiring harness was repaired, go to next step. If wiring harness is okay, replace faulty PCM. Code new PCM and test drive vehicle. See PCM CODING  in this article.
