IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE - Ohms @ 68°F (20°C)

Application Primary Secondary
1.8L Turbo .4-.6 Ohms (1) (2)
2.8L (3) 18,000-25,000 Ohms (4)
2.8L (3) 8000-14,000 Ohms (5)
(1) Measuring primary resistance is normally not necessary. Measure between coil terminals No. 1 and 15 (on 3-pin connector, 2 outside terminals).
(2) A high tension isolation diode is installed in secondary circuit of ignition coil. Measuring secondary coil resistance is not possible with conventional instruments.
(3) Measuring primary resistance is not possible.
(4) Measured between ignition coil towers, including spark plug cables and spark plug connectors.
(5) Measured across ignition coil towers with spark plug wires and spark plug connectors removed.
