Electronic Differential Lock

NOTE: EDL function may be combined with ASR to control vehicle acceleration.

Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) prevents wheel spin to drive wheel during hard acceleration. EDL may also be referred to as EDS. On Front Wheel Drive (FWD), EDL operates up to a speed of 25 MPH. On Quattro models, EDL operates up to a speed of 25 MPH, however, once activated, system will continue to operate up to 50 MPH. On all models, if brake temperatures are high, ABS control module will reduce or cancel EDL operation until brake temperatures are reduced. EDL is effective in both forward and reverse directions. On FWD models, EDL controls front drive wheels. On Quattro models, EDL controls all drive wheels, not just front drive wheels.
