Throttle Valve Control Module

Throttle Valve Control Module (TVCM) located on intake manifold contains throttle drive actuator, angle sensor No. 1 and angle sensor No. 2. There are no serviceable parts in TVCM, and housing should not be opened. Throttle drive actuator is an electric stepper motor activated by the ECM. Stepper motor opens throttle against spring pressure. Angle sensors are potentiometers that communicate throttle valve position to ECM independent of each other. Angle sensors cannot be mechanically adjusted. Adjustments are performed using VAS 5051 scan tool in function 04 - BASIC SETTING. See FUNCTION 04 - BASIC SETTING under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article. Mechanical testing of TVCM consists of checking TVCM harness connector for loose or corroded terminals.

To test TVCM, see appropriate DTC under DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.
