3.0L (A4 & A6 - Engine Code AVK)
Engine identification is visible first after preparations. Remove front engine cover (arrows). See Fig 1 . A sticker containing "engine code" and "production number" (arrow) is located on the housing for vacuum diaphragm for intake manifold adjustment. See Fig 2 .
If the sticker is not present and the "engine identification" is required, remove the rear engine cover (arrows). See Fig 3 . Engine codes are stamped on rear of cylinder block, left side. See Fig 4 .
If the sticker is not present and the "engine identification" and "production number" proceed as follows. Remove bolts (arrows) and remove vacuum diaphragm for intake manifold adjustment. See Fig 5 . Remove compression spring which is behind it and set off to the side the vacuum diaphragm with connected lines. The engine code ("engine code" and production number") are located at the front of cylinder head, on top. See Fig 6 .
