Checking Tread Depth
NOTE:
For safety reasons, all tires on the vehicle should be of the same make and tread design.
On AWD vehicles, always use tires of the same make and tread design. If not, the center differential can get damaged.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Test pin T40139
NOTE:
The scale on the test pin for checking the tread depth has a symbol of a tire.

-- Ascertain the tread depth of all the tires (including spare tires) with a Test Pin T40139 and record in the maintenance table.
- Minimum tread depth: 1.6 mm
NOTE:
The minimum tread depth is reached when the tires have worn down level with the 1.6 mm high tread wear indicators -arrows- positioned at intervals around the tire.
This value may vary for individual countries due to different legislative regulations.
If the tread depth is nearing the legally allowable minimum tread depth, inform the customer of this.
