Procedure
-- Follow all test conditions and instructions. Refer to TEST CONDITIONS .
Determine the ATF Temperature
-- Select the following menu options under Functions/Component selection in Guided Fault Finding on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester:
- Drivetrain
- 0BK Transmission
- 01-OBD-Capable Systems
- 02-Transmission Electronics
- 02-Transmission Electronics, Functions
- 02-Measured Values
-- Select Transmission Fluid Temperature from the list.
-- Check the ATF temperature.
ATF Level, Checking and Correcting
The ATF level is checked at the ATF check and fill hole.
The ATF level is correct if a small amount of fluid drips out of the inspection and fill opening (this is normal as the fluid expands as it heats up) at an ATF temperature between 35 ° and 45 °C (95 ° and 113 °F), for hot countries 50 °C (122 °F).
Replace the plug for the ATF check and fill hole.
Danger of causing damage to the transmission.
- Only use the ATF available as a replacement part for the automatic transmission 0BK.
- Using other fluids can cause malfunctions or transmission failure.
- For the correct allocation. Refer to the Parts Information
- The ATF filler adapter must be clean. Do not mix the ATF any other fluids.
-- Secure the ATF container and the Oil Filler:VAS6262A on the vehicle as high as possible; for the correct ATF specification. Refer to the Parts Information
Danger of causing damage to the transmission.
- Engine must not be started if only a small amount or no ATF is in the transmission after repair work or after significant ATF loss.
- In this case, pre-filling is necessary. Refer to ATF, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Remove the rear noise insulation -2-. Refer to Noise Insulation, Removing and Installing .
-- Start the engine in "P".
-- While depressing the brake pedal and with the vehicle idling, shift through all the selector lever positions "P", "R", "N", "D/S" leaving each position engaged for at least 10 seconds.
-- Move the selector lever to "P".
-- Run the engine at idle.
-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit:SMN372500 under the transmission.
Danger of eye injury.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- When the ATF reaches 35 °C (95 °F), remove the plug -arrow A- and drain any excess ATF.
- If the ATF starts to leak out of the ATF check and fill hole -arrow A- before it reaches 40 °C (104 °F), then the ATF level is OK.
- If no ATF flows out of the ATF-check and fill opening before the ATF has reached 40 °C (104 °F), then top off the ATF; refer to Topping Off the ATF .
The ATF check and fill hole must be sealed off again before the ATF reaches 45 °C (113 °F) (50 °C (122 °F) for hot climate countries).
-- Tighten the new plug for the ATF check and fill hole. The ATF level test is now completed.
