Bevel Box, Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Refer to the Parts Information for the grease for clutch plate splines.

Installing 

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

• Tightening specifications. Refer to BEVEL BOX, TIGHTENING SPECIFICATION .

-- Grease the splines on the bevel box.

-- Insert the bevel box and press it all the way on the transmission.

Tip

• If the tooth position is incorrect the bevel box cannot be pressed against the transmission. To do so turn the flange shaft.
• If the tooth position is correct and it is guided centered, the bevel box slides against the transmission all the way.

-- Tighten the bevel box. Refer to Figure.

-- Install the driveshaft. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Install the subframe with the steering gear. Refer to SUBFRAME WITH STEERING GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Check the gear oil level in bevel box. Refer to GEAR OIL, CHECKING LEVEL .

Tightening Specifications 

• Flange shaft bolt: -item  : Bolt
• Refer to OVERVIEW - DRIVE AXLE .
