Shift Mechanism, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Engage the parking brake.

-- Remove the center console insert. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE INSERT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the connection -1-.

-- Remove the ball socket -1- on the selector lever cable from the selector shaft lever using the Pry Lever: 80-200  .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the heat shield for the tunnel. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

• A second technician is required under the vehicle to remove the shift mechanism -1-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- in the vehicle interior.

-- Remove the selector mechanism downward.
