Electric Shut-Off

The distributor injector pump has an electric shut-off, which permits shutting off the engine from the ignition switch. The shut-off device consists of a pulling magnet which keeps the feed bore to the high pressure chamber open when the engine is running.

The engine is stopped by switching off power flow to the magnet. This closes the feed bore to the high pressure chamber and the distributor piston cannot draw in fuel.
