Fuel Injector Pressure Test
- Remove fuel injectors and screw injectors on Test Stand (00 2 540). Operate lever of tester in short, fast strokes. The ejected fuel should have a rather tight and cone-shaped pattern. The ejected fuel stream should break off clearly at the end of each stroke.
- Operate lever of tester slowly and completely (1 to 2 strokes per second). A nozzle in good condition will chatter when fuel is ejected. Press down lever of tester slowly. Read pressure on pressure gauge when ejection begins.
- Press down lever of tester slowly and hold 10 seconds at approximately 290 psi (20.4 kg/cm2 ) below opening pressure. Nozzle must not drip fuel. Fuel injectors may not be repaired. Always replace fuel injector combination when nozzle is defective, leaks, spray pattern is wrong or opening (ejection) pressure is wrong.
