Engine Speed Sensor

Engine Speed Sensor is located on front of engine, near crankshaft pulley. Disconnect electrical connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between sensor terminal 1 (Yellow wire) and terminal 2 (Black wire). If resistance is not approximately 540 +/- 54 ohms, the sensor is faulty and should be replaced. Using a 5 mm hex wrench, remove sensor mounting bolt.

Distance between sensor tip and toothed wheel should be .04 +/- .01" (1.0 +/- 0.3 mm) when sensor is installed. Tighten sensor mounting screw to 62 +/- 9 in. lbs. (7 +/- 1 N.m). Be careful not to overtighten mounting screw. Be sure wiring is correctly routed through protective covering.
