Test 7: Engine Speed Sensor & Reference Point Pick-Up
- Check sensor and pick-up general condition. Ensure that they are installed improper position and firmly seated. Electrical contacts must be clean and tight. Check that sensor plugs are not reversed. Plugs are color coded for identification.
- Install BMW Test Meter (22 13 100 ). Connect terminals and check for engine speed input signal to MCU. Connect check for reference signal to MCU. IF signals are not correct, remove terminal connections and recheck signals. If either signal is absent, check wiring for open. If wiring is okay, replace sensor and/or pick-up as needed.
