NOTE: For basic ignition checks, see BASIC TESTING article.
NOTE: On 5, 6 and 7 Series models with electronic controlled transmission, ignition timing is retarded by transmission control unit during shifting to provide smoother gearshifts. The transmission control unit grounds the signal to the MCU.
