Fuel Pump Relay

  1. On 323i Series models, fuel pump relay is on bracket on left front shock tower (center relay on bracket). On 5 and 7 Series models, fuel pump relay is in relay box in right rear corner of engine compartment. On 635CSi models, fuel pump relay is on left side of engine compartment, attached to outside of relay/fuse box.
  2. If fuel pump fails to operate, ensure battery voltage exists on the Red and Red/White wires of fuel pump relay and that fuel pump fuse is okay. If no voltage exists, check power circuits and ground circuits for the MCU. The MCU controls the ground circuit for the fuel pump relay.
  3. If battery voltage exists at fuel pump relay, note wire color and location on fuel pump relay terminals. Apply battery voltage to the Red and Red/White wire terminals of relay. Ground the Brown/Green wire terminal. Voltage should now exist at the Green/Violet wire terminal of the relay. Replace relay if voltage fails to exist.
