Steering Lock: Removal

  1. Remove upper steering spindle bearing. See STEERING SPINDLE BEARING (UPPER) .
  2. Remove upper section of steering column trim. See STEERING COLUMN UPPER TRIM SECTION .
  3. Remove ring antenna. See RING ANTENNA OF ELECTRONIC IMMOBILIZER .
  4. Remove bracket for switches (indicators/wipers).
  5. Remove cable for interlock if necessary. See Figure.
  6. Remove screw and lift off bracket for wiring harness. Unlock connector from ignition starter switch and remove. See Figure.
  7. Remove shear-off screw with tool, e.g. chisel. Remove plate (1) and steering lock. See Fig 1.
  8. Set lock cylinder to "R" position with ignition key. Use workshop key for better accessibility.
  9. Push special tool (32 3 110) into hole of lock cylinder and swivel handle forward approximately 90°. Remove lock cylinder to be installed in new lock.
