Steering Lock: Removal
- Remove upper steering spindle bearing. See STEERING SPINDLE BEARING (UPPER) .
- Remove upper section of steering column trim. See STEERING COLUMN UPPER TRIM SECTION .
- Remove ring antenna. See RING ANTENNA OF ELECTRONIC IMMOBILIZER .
- Remove bracket for switches (indicators/wipers).
- Remove cable for interlock if necessary. See Figure.
- Remove screw and lift off bracket for wiring harness. Unlock connector from ignition starter switch and remove. See Figure.
- Remove shear-off screw with tool, e.g. chisel. Remove plate (1) and steering lock. See Fig 1.
- Set lock cylinder to "R" position with ignition key. Use workshop key for better accessibility.
- Push special tool (32 3 110) into hole of lock cylinder and swivel handle forward approximately 90°. Remove lock cylinder to be installed in new lock.
