Generators & Regulators: Description

Generator with Bit-Serial Data (BSD) interface can actively communicate with the engine control module. The generator is not linked to the charge indicator lamp, only to the engine control module. The generator can detect a variety of faults. Vehicles are equipped with Internal Battery Sensor (IBS). IBS is a mechatronic component for monitoring battery condition. The IBS is secured and connected to the negative terminal of the battery. Power supply for IBS is fed across a separate cable. For data transmission, IBS is connected to the Digital Motor Electronics (DME) by way of the BSD interface.
