11 00 670 Securing engine in installation position (M57T2)
Special tools required:
Owing to the new guidelines on pedestrian protection, side panels are no longer suitable for supporting the engine.
Observe following instructions relating to special tool:
- Prior to each use, check the special tools for defects, modifications and operational reliability.
- Damaged/modified special tools must not be used!
- No changes or modifications may be made to the special tools!
- Keep special tools dry, clean and free of grease.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Secure ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID IN SERVICE POSITION .
- 3.0d: Remove intake port. See 13 REMOVING INTAKE DUCT (M57T2) .
- 3.0Sd: Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
- Remove acoustic cover. See 13..... REMOVE THE ACOUSTIC COVERS (M57T2 WITH AND WITHOUT SCR) .
- Remove PARTITION WALL OF THE UNITS COMPARTMENT ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT .
Assemble cross-member 00 0 200 with special tools 00 0 202 , 00 0 204 and 00 0 208 .
Modification:
Replace profile strips with special tools 00 0 451 .
Replace front supports with special tools 00 0 452 .
Position cross-member 00 0 200 with a 2nd person helping on designated areas (1, 2).
Always make sure there is sufficient clearance between the engine (or its add-on parts) and the body.
Align transverse member so that spindle 00 0 202 is correctly positioned over suspension lug.
Attach suitable chain to the spindle 00 0 202 and attach to suspension lug.
Tighten down all adjusting screws and nuts on cross-member 00 0 200 .
Unscrew nuts (1).
Raise engine approx. 10 mm with cross member.
Installation note:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque: 22 11 2AZ .
Check vacuum lines of engine mounts for correct position and connection.
