Urea/Water Mixture Quality
Carry out a quality inspection of the AdBlue using a refractometer with an AdBlue scale. During this the concentration of the urea is ascertained with the help of the light refraction. Use the enclosed pipette to apply a drop of the medium to be tested onto the prism and close the lid. Take a reading of the concentration on the corresponding scale for the AdBlue with the light/dark limit in the ocular.
| Item | Explanation |
|---|---|
| 1 | Refractometer with AdBlue scale |
| 2 | AdBlue scale with light/dark limit of 32.5% AdBlue |
Evaluating the AdBlue mixture:
Setpoint values: 31, 8% - 33.3%
- Values that are lower than 31.8 % will no longer warrant the proper function of the AdBlue mixture and replacement is required. (The AdBlue can age due to ultraviolet radiation, the urea is gradually decomposed)
- The values are within this tolerance when the displayed values are between 31.8% and 33.3 %. The AdBlue is delivered with a concentration of 32.5 %.
- When values are higher than 33.3 %, the water amount in the mixture is too low. The water can evaporate if the SCR tank system is leaking.
